Alvivi’s controversial Ramadhan scandal is still just as fresh in our minds. The Sessions Court hit them with three charges and the trial date is already set on 19th September 2013.
The trial was fixed after the council Chong Joo Tian informed the court that he had filed an application in the High Court to appeal and challenge the validity of Section 298A of the Penal Code – charges for causing disharmony, disunity, or feelings of enmity, hatred or ill-will on grounds of religion.
Alvin Tan Jye Yee, 25 and Lee May Ling, 24 were faced a charge of posting a possibly seditious photos on Facebook where both of them were seen indulging in “Bak Kut Teh” with comments “Selamat Berbuka Puasa… dengan Bak Kut Teh “. They were also accused with posting pornographic pictures on their private blog in early July; and uploading content which possibly stirring hostility based on religion at a restaurant in mid July.
Alvivi were claimed trail to charge under the Penal Code, Flim Censorship Act and Sedition Act on 18th July 2013.
