“Absolutely ridiculous” is what lawyer Latheefa Koya said about the arrest of Maznah Mohd Yusof (or Chetz), a dog trainer. Chetz has recently been the topic of controversy for her video where she celebrated Hari Raya with her dogs.
She will be bought to the Magistrate’s court in Segamat for a hearing on the possible extension of her remand order. Her lawyer Latheefa, said that Chetz was brought to Segamat this morning as that was where the first police report was lodged against her.
“This is absolutely ridiculous and doesn’t make sense. They can conduct the investigations in Kuala Lumpur or Selangor. They are just doing this to harass her”, she said.
Chetz was arrested yesterday and was initially in custody in Bukit Aman. According to Latheefa, Chetz has been cooperating with the police and should be charged if indeed there really was a case for her to answer.
Chetz is being investigated for “causing disharmony on grounds of religion”, and the offense is punishable up to five years jail in Malaysia.
Her video, which was uploaded on YouTube three years ago, shows Chetz bathing and feeding her dogs. She defended herself, saying that the video was never meant to insult Islam in the video. [Source]
