The Malaysian sports team suffered a loss when basketball team member Jacky Ng Kee Kiat suffered a heart attack and died on Sunday evening. He was with the national team in Jinjiang, China for an warm-up invitation tournament in preparation for the FIBA Asia Championships from 1st-11th August 2013 at Manila. The incident happened at 5pm yesterday.
“I’ve experienced losing a game but never lost a player before. It’s a terrible and shocking loss and I want to be strong for the team but I cannot help but cry as Jacky was a good and nice kid,” said Paul Advincula, national coach.
According to Advincula, the power forward was on the bench during a match against a Chinese club side when he collapsed due to suspected heart failure. Jacky’s parents were recently in China, accompanied by Tan Kee Hian, Malaysian National Basketball League (MNBL) commissioner.
Right now we are still unclear what actually happened that lead to Jacky’s sudden death. So stay with us for more updates.
