It is already halfway through July and time to either go away or start spending more time at the beach if you are lucky enough to have one near you. As it is important to be prepared for a beach day out we have noted the essentials to put in your beach bag so you are kitted out as you should be. Here you go!
Wide tooth comb: With dipping in and out of the sea you will probably want to brush your hair through. The drying properties of the salt water make your hair more prone to tangling and then breaking when you brush it, a wide tooth comb will get rid of any tangles at more ease.
Tanning oil and sun tan lotion: Make the most of the sun without burning your skin. Sun tan lotion will protect you from the sun ensuring no burns but also still allows UV rays through so you still get a tan, unlike sunblock. Tanning oils that contain carrot extract are good for darkening your tan as carrots contain melanin, they also smell really good. There is no worse way to end a beach day than with a sunburn.
Lip salve: Upon protecting your skin, do not forget to protect your lips! The skin on your lips can too get burnt so to save yourself the discomfort pick up a lip moisturiser with an SPF in it as they are easy to find. With the heat and the saltwater a lip salve is also nice to have as your lips will get dried out easily.
Sunglasses: It is no big surprise that you will want sunglasses when going to the beach! Cat eye sunglasses have come back into trend big time this year.
Book: A good book will go a long way if you’re at the beach for a whole day, it will give you something to do while laying out and if its a good enough book it will keep you there longer than you would of been! A new book is a holiday must have.
Music: My iPod is always an essential for me at the beach. This gives you something to listen to when the beach gets a little busier or when you just want to zone out and relax. Make a beach playlist with the kind of music you like to listen to when you’re there and you won’t have the hassle of choosing what comes on next.
