Alvin and Vivian makes headlines once again.
After posting their Facebook photo that’s said to have insulted Muslims and ridiculed the holy fasting month of Ramadan, the couple faced a nearly 12-hour drilling at the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) office where their statements were recorded to assist investigations.
“We have apologized via YouTube and we are sincere…we regret our action,” said Alvin.
The couple was investigated under Section 233 of the Act, which touches on the improper use of network facilities or network service.
MCMC head of enforcement and industry surveillance Zulkarnain Mohd Yasin told reporters that an investigation would be conducted and a report submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
Deputy Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Jailani Johari added that Alvin and Vivian’s offense was punishable with a fine of up to RM50,000 or a one-year prison term, or both, upon conviction. [Source]
