Local troublemakers Alvivi are at it again. Just yesterday, the couple released a fairly insensitive message on their Facebook page in lieu with Ramadhan. The image below looks fairly harmless, don’t you think? But let us point all the problems we have with this picture.
1. They’re eating Bak Kut Teh.
2. They’re holding up pieces of pork
3. The Halal sign is being used with nothing on that picture being halal.
4. They’re propagating how tasty bak kut teh is when they know very well that the dish is not to be eaten by Muslims.
Sure this may seem like a little joke, but this is too far. We get the message about ‘1Malaysia’, but it’s really a crass thing to do to directly insult the majority’s religious background.
We know these two mean no direct harm, but this is obviously really not a good idea to do something like this during an auspicious month in Malaysia.
