The body of a woman found in a durian orchard near the White Resort National Service Training Camp in Bukit Genting, Balik Pulau has been identified. The victim, June Xing, is a 37-year-old Chinese national who had been living in Penang for five years.
Penang CID chief SAC Mazlan Kesah said three men were detained by the police in connection with Xing’s murder. The men, aged between 45 and 56, were separately arrested near George Town last night.
“One of the suspects was the owner of the beauty centre where the victim was employed while another one was the victim’s boyfriend. We believed that the murder was due to jealousy,” said Kesah.
“The woman went out from her house at 6.30pm on Sunday and did not return home after that. The victim was believed to be killed elsewhere before her body was thrown into the orchard,” he added.
Post-mortem results showed that Xing was stabbed 17 times on the back of her body, while her neck was also slashed using sharp objects. No element of sexual assault was found. [Source]
