Do you still remember that one teenage girl who became a YouTube star overnight when her song ‘Friday’ went viral? Yes, we’re talking about Rebecca Black, whose song ‘Friday’ became infamous after getting over 3 million ‘dislikes’ on YouTube between March 2011 and June 2011. We didn’t hear much from Rebecca after that, and there were reports of Rebecca having to drop out of school after ‘Friday’ became popular due to constant bullying by former schoolmates.
If you’ve wondered what the girl with the somewhat nasal voice has been up to, well, she’s still active on her official YouTube channel, but instead of releasing her own songs, she’s decided to upload covers of other famous pop songs on quite a regular basis. Surprisingly, she sounds so much better than her ‘Friday’ days and we reckon we’ll be hearing more of her this summer ’cause her latest video is being actively shared on social media platforms since its upload two days ago.
Rebecca Black has teamed up with fellow YouTube singer Jon D. to do an acoustic cover of Miley Cyrus’ latest comeback single “We Can’t Stop”. However, she’s changed some of the lyrics of Cyrus’ highly racy and controversial song to make it more suitable for her own fans, who are presumably younger than Black’s 16 year old self.
