The 6.2 magnitude earthquake that struck in Banda Aceh caused buildings to collapsed and injuring at least 50 people. A tsunami warning has also been alerted around coastal regions.
According to Ema Suryani, a doctor at a health clinic said, “We have received around 50 people with injuries suffered when the walls of their houses collapsed”.
“The injuries vary from open wounds to broken bones”.
According to sources, people also ran out of buildings in panic in the provincial capital Banda Aceh as the quake shook houses for about a minute. (Source)

In 2004, a massive earthquake struck, sparking a tsunami that killed over 170,000 people.
An earthquake just hit Banda Aceh, Sumatra just 40 minutes ago! According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake was reported to scale in at a 6.2 magnitude.
The shallow quake which was only 10km deep, struck 188km southeast of Banda Aceh. No tsunami warning and casualties were reported in the capital were reported.
Malaysians have shared on their social media portals that they felt tremors around 3.40pm today.
