Indonesia’s president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has apologized for the haze that’s blanketed the skies of Singapore and Malaysia. The thick smog in the sky has become Southeast Asia’s worst air pollution crisis in 16 years.
“As the president, I apologize and seek the understanding of our friends in Singapore and Malaysia,” he said.
He said that Indonesia is going everything it can to contain the fires on the island of Sumatra, including the deployment of military aircraft to waterbomb the blazes.
As of 10am on 25 June (Tuesday), the Air Pollutant Index (API) reads at 281 in the Klang Valley. You can obtain real-time API updates here.
