The Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) is back this year! Held at the Sarawak Cultural Village in Santubong, near Kuching, this year’s festival runs from a relaxed opening on Friday June 28, 2013 until its raucous, jam packed finale around midnight on Sunday June 30.

In partnership with Heineken, the 3-day festival will feature the Grammy-nominated Pine Leaf Boys, whose Cajun-spiced zydeco has wowed audiences around the globe with its fast-paced roots energy as well as illustrious artists Chet Nuneta and Habadekuk. The festival was designed to show some of the diversity and eclecticism that has become an epitome for over its distinguished history.

There’s also the full-on East-West collision of Iranian-based Mohsen Sharifian & The Lian Band whose spellbinding fusion of chanting vocals and bagpipe is utterly irresistible. Adding to the excitement is the funk, creole and jazz infused Rey Vallenato Beto Jamaica from Colombia, the atmospheric contemporary folk of Crotia’s Kries and the masterful percussion-driven grooves of South Africa’s Dizu Plaatjies & The Ibuyambo Ensemble.
