Robin Thicke: “What a Pleasure it is to Degrade a Woman”

Robin Thicke‘s new [unrated] music video “Blurred Lines” has caused quite a stir on top of just having lots of clear boob shots.

The unrated “Blurred Lines” video features mainly nude models [in flesh-toned g-strings], mild allusions of beastiality and balloons that spell out “Robin Thicke has a big D”.

Apart from it just being an insanely catchy song about doing the nasty, we’re a little unsure if Thicke is encouraging the degrading of women in his new video.

Produced by none other than The Neptunes, the video shows Thicke, Pharrell Williams and rapper T.I. dancing around a couple of very beautiful and perky girls with a couple of props  including a live sheep, and a ceramic [or stuffed] dog.

In an interview with GQ, Thicke said that he incorporated  “everything that was taboo”, and everything that was derogatory towards women.

“Because all three of us are happily married with children, we were like, “We’re the perfect guys to make fun of this.” People say, “Hey, do you think this is degrading to women?” I’m like, “Of course it is. What a pleasure it is to degrade a woman. I’ve never gotten to do that before. I’ve always respected women”.”

So we just wanted to turn it over on its head and make people go, “Women and their bodies are beautiful. Men are always gonna want to follow them around.”

Thicke said that after the video was banned on YouTube, his drop dead gorgeous wife, Paula Patton tweeted:

“Violence is ugly. Nudity is beautiful. And the ‘Blurred Lines’ video makes me wanna…”

Thicke continued to explain that the world should not have a problem with nudity:

“Right now, with terrorism and poverty and Wall Street and Social Security having problems, nudity should not be the issue.”

Despite being the party anthem of the season, critics have suggest that the song sends the notion of consent in sexual activity, and seen as “rape-y”.[Source]

While we ‘agree to disagree’, why on earth would Robin Thicke find it “a pleasure to degrade a woman”? How would he feel if a boy decides that it’s fun to disrespect his daughter?
