We can’t begin to explain just how much support we have for Debenhams right now. The British fashion brand is really on the right track in promoting positive body image among women! Debenhams Features Paralympian, Plus-Size Models, and More in New Campaign
Debenhams is vowing to scale back on the practice of airbrushing in their lingerie ad campaigns. Last Wednesday, they released a statement on their Facebook page, informing customers that they will cut back on retouching the photos of lingerie models.
The brand also released the original photos of the model in an effort to illustrate how much re-touching is applied to an image just to obtain “perfection”. Before-and-after images were also released by Debenhams to illustrate the unrealistic outcomes of retouching. Debenhams hopes to scale back on the airbrushing on all departments in the near future.
In June 2010, Debenhams also banned airbrushing from their swimwear ad campaign, and released before-and-after pictures of the model. A detailed graphic was also released to show customers just how much an image could be altered for the sake of advertising.
