But it’s not always the handy tactics our father taught us that makes us who we are today. In lieu with Father’s Day, we got our Malaysian celebrity friends to share some of the most important things their father taught us. Be it a few life lessons, or some personal philosophy, there’s no denying just how important our fathers are in our lives.
This is what they have to say:
“On my first day of college, my dad gave me a ride. On the way there, out of nowhere, he goes, “You know, you’re starting on your degree program. Somewhere along the way you might think you don’t like it. If that happens, you just finish it first. Then we worry about what to do”.
It was a good reminder that in life, a lot of times we might end up doing things we don’t like. But we still have to do it.”
– Jeremy Teo, Radio and TV personality
“I would say to be healthy through what I eat and to sleep early. It has helped especially in my crazy schedule!”
– Choo Mei Sze, Host/Emcee
– Lexie Rodriguez, Model and Host/Emcee
“My dad taught me to make lemonade out of lemons. Even though I learn how to behave from home but life is all about going out there to experience and learn it all on your own. My dad gave me freedom, that is one of the biggest thing that made me who I am today.”
– Venice Min, Model
“The most important thing my dad taught me is honesty and intergrity.”
– Thanuja Ananthan, Model
“A lot that he taught me was important… but iId say the one thing I keep being reminded of is women are always right, even when they’re wrong”.
Sona One, rapper
“The most important one has to be that knowledge is power”.
Josiah Mizukami, model/actor
“The most important thing my dad taught me is to work for experience, not for money. Experience everything on your own is like turning the world into your classroom. Learning from your own mistakes and not to give up, and always always think of the positive side first. Also, being able to adapt with any kind of situation”.
Ezzati Amira, fashion designer
“My dad taught me that life is all about give and take, passion, helping one another, and sacrifice”.
