Just recently, carmakers Volkswagen, Peugeot and Honda have refuted claims of a price slash this year, as reported in government-party-owned broadsheet Utusan Malaysia as part of proof that they’ve fulfil its election pledge. Peugeot Malaysia also responded on its Facebook page claiming that the face-lifted 308 VTi has always been priced at RM102,888 since it was launched and it’s Turbo variant is priced at RM121,888.
“Without prejudice, nothing was issued by us, we were not consulted before the article went to print and have no association with the news contained therein. The prices shown appear to be the 308 Turbo pre-face-lift and 308 VTi which are in face two different variants of the Peugeot 308,” said the French marque.
Honda also confirmed that a Honda Jazz Hybrid has always been sold at RM89,900 since last year, the other version of the same car previously costs RM94,800.
So, here’s the big question – Has the media been making false claims, or is it the government?
