A woman in Uttar Pradesh, India refused to marry a man who she said his skin tone was “too dark”.
The woman’s family and other villagers were totally shocked by her reaction to her intended spouse when she saw him for the first time during the wedding. Everything was fine until the woman laid eyes on her bridegroom.
She threw a tantrum and claimed that she couldn’t proceed with the wedding ceremony as the bridegroom was too dark to match her looks when the wedding was about to start. Her family tried to persuade her into going ahead with the ceremony but she refused and walked out.
Arranged marriages are still very common in India, but modern society has been able to go against these age-old traditions.
