We’re finally seeing some positive progress since the 13th General Elections and we’re glad to announce that the government has lowered the car prices of 10 models.
The price reduction plans of auto motives are implemented through gradual stages of reduction. CEO of Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI), Mohamad Madani Sahari said it is way better than giving a lump sum reduction of excise duty on cars.
He said, even though the excise duty is now in level around 65 to 105 per cent, but in reality, the amount of excise duty paid by domestic vehicle manufacturers installation (CKD) is only about 40 to 50 percent.
Here is the list of the 10 car models, including the percentage of the decrease in market price:
Peugeot 308 (11%)
Volkswagen Golf (7.1%)
Perodua Viva (5.4%)
Perodua Myvi (4%)
Proton Persona (3.8%)
Perodua Alza (3.4%)
Proton Preve (3%)
Honda Jazz Hybrid (2.5%)
Proton Saga (1.1%)
Proton Exora (0.7%)
