According to media updates this morning, 200 of the boat’s passengers survived the incident where a boat toppled on Tuesday in Belaga. Most of them were believed they’re back for Hari Gawai festival.
Tujok Lah, 44, from Rumah Merit was found dead by the villages from Rumah Tevok at 7am on Thursday, not far from where the vessel capsized. This is the first body found in the incident.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has ordered the relevant authorities to carry out a detailed investigation to determine the cause of the express boat tragedy in Sungai Rajang, Sarawak.
“I have ordered a thorough investigation on the tragedy and I call on all ferry operators to always be responsible,” he said in a Facebook posting.
