[REVIEW] Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Activating Oil

Recently, I talked about the importance of using beauty oils. A lot of people have this misconception that beauty oils will cause breakouts because well, it’s an oil. And we know as young as 10-year-olds that oil on your skin is just bad news.

I’ve always been skeptical about beauty oils, mainly because I have oily skin and thinking about putting oil on my face makes me wonder if PETRONAS will be knocking on my door to extract the oil off my face. Fortunately, they have not.. yet!

I’ve only started taking care of my face when I realized that my under eye bags were getting deeper and darker, and my zits were popping out all over like little volcanos of pus and oil. And this was about a month ago. I started to wonder if it was my diet, the weather or just my hormones acting whack.

Small enough to fit your makeup bag

Discovering Ole Henriksens’s Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil was pretty much the life saver I needed. Rich in omega 3:6:9, I knew for a fact that it would do wonders for my skin. But of course, being oil, the one substance I dread putting on my skin, I was hesitant. Afraid and paranoid about it causing breakouts and making my face greasier than it already is.

But I digressed, and kept thinking that I have two weeks to be able to see some result, so I put on my girl-power cap, and slathered it over my face after applying some anti-acne toner. Just one squirt of the oil is more than enough, especially if you have oily skin like mine. Rub it in your palms, and lightly apply on your cheeks, forehead, nose and chin, massaging it gently too.

The texture of the Youth Activating Oil is very light, but it still carried some weight in it. It’s rich in rose hip oil which is the best beauty oil you can find out there. It’s rich in antioxidants, and it repairs your skin, and all the things a serum does minus the added chemicals. It’s also orange in color, which I believe could be due to the citrus peel oil combination it has so that your skin gets some vitamin C. Vitamin C and Omega-3 oils are good for your skin. Remember that!

Going on with my day, Ole Henriksen’s oil did not bother me at all. It felt light, and although I still felt the slight oily texture on my skin, it didn’t make my skin oilier than it already was.

Apart from that, after two weeks of use, I’ve noticed that my acne and pimple scars were slowly fading off, and I only broke out once in the span of 3 weeks. The past two months, I get three to five zits in a week, sometimes more. My skin felt so much softer and supple than it ever did too. So, bonus points for this elixir! I also think it may have to do with the Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer from First Aid Beauty that’s light as air!

If you’re planning to go out and buy this because my experience with it sold you, then good! Because I’ve used oils before and I was irked by a few. Ole Henriksen’s Pure Truth Activating Oil is magic!

Additional tricks to use Ole Henriksen’s Pure Truth Activating Oil without breaking out:-

• Use an oil-control toner before applying the oil. Follow with moisturizer, preferably a light one.
• Apply it at night before going to sleep if you’re not certain about your skin’s reaction to it.

Follow these steps and you won’t have to worry about PETRONAS knocking on your door to monopolize the oil your face!

Ole Henriksen’s Pure Truth Activating Oil and First Aid Beauty Ultra Face Repair Moisturizer are available in Sephora Malaysia at RM156 and RM82, respectively.
