Firefighters in China rescued an abandoned newborn baby lodged in a sewage site under a toilet commode.
The infant was found in the sewage pipe in a residential building in Jinhua, after residents reported the sound of a baby crying.
Firefighters had to remove the pipe and take the baby to a nearby hospital where doctors carefully cut it around to rescue the baby boy inside. According to the state television, the child is in stable condition but the police are on the lookout for his parents.
They’ve recently been reports in China of babies being abandoned shortly after birth, which they believe could be due to young mothers unaware they were pregnant, or even the birth of an unwanted daughter.
