More stories regarding the horse meat scandal surfaces! A Dutch meat wholesaler, Willy Selten, was arrested for allegedly selling 300 tons of horse meat as beef, along with his company’s interim director.
In April, it was reported that 50,000 tons of meat sold as beef by Mr Selten may have contained horse meat. Even the company’s accounts showed that the horse meat was processed as beef, but there accounts did not say where the meat came from or where it went to.
The public prosecutor said Mr Selten and his director were suspected of false accounting and fraud, however Selten said the allegations made no sense and denied criminal activity.
“We never stuck labels on something that wasn’t beef”, he said. (Source)

Another scare too has shocked us now that a EU-funded “research media centre” aims to create an “enriched” ice-cream with “disused” animal products that’s been thrown away as it’s apparently unfit for human consumption. This includes the less-attractive meaty nourishment such as guts, eyes, tendons, cartilage, other connective tissue of various kinds, brains, hooves, genitals, etc.

The statement said:
“Up to 50 per cent of the animal weight processed in the meat industry is discarded as left-overs … despite being rich in proteins and lipids … So the focus is now on reusing proteins. Today, only 22 per cent is converted by the food industry into feed and barely 3 per cent is consumed as food.”
Apparently, this meat ice-cream could be an ideal dietary supplement for those needing “special protein products”, such as “sick people, the elderly and athletes”. (Source)
So, maybe it’s time we switched it up to ice cream made of soy products!
