Former beauty queen and actress Chris Tong was saved by the barks of her poodle when her RM300,000 Mercedez-Benz SLK was car-jacked in Taman Yulek, Cheras.
Tong, who had acted in several local and Singaporean dramas and movies, had just finished a meeting with a client in Jalan Kuchai Lama on Monday night on her work in a new movie.
She had gone to get supper when the incident occurred early Tuesday on Tuesday morning. Tong was walking back to her car after buying some food from a stall when suddenly she was beaten on the back by an assailant.
As she fell, she realized that the attacker wanted to seize her car keys. But because her poodle was in her car, it barked out loud when it saw Tong being attacked.
“The noise alerted a stall owner nearby, who shouted at the assailant,” a source said.
The source said the attacker ran away when he saw members of the public running towards him. (Source)
