Love and romance isn’t always like Cinderella or Snow White. You don’t always find true love and live happily ever after. It’s a cliche and it doesn’t happen to every one on Earth. As you bear the pain and sorrow after breaking up with your ex-boyfriend, what if you find out that your ex-boyfriend is actually stalking you on Facebook or trying keep contact with you? It’s like a double strike right into your heart!

Well, no doubt, what he did is actually abusing your privacy even though is not that serious. You might feel very uncomfortable and it’s distracting from gaining closure, which is really the only way to move on. Even if you and your ex-boyfriend once shared time, love and laughter, stalking is still technically abuse. Here’s a simple guideline to help keep you safe from whatever his intentions may be.

1. Make your intentions clear
If he’s just texing and simply calling to ask you about your current situation and it’s making you feel very uncomfortable, tell your ex-boyfriend that you no longer wish to have contact with him. Make it clear that you don’t want to receive his calls, texts and emails. Be firm, direct and consistent.

2. Tell a friend or family member about the stalking
When things get serious, please do tell you family members, besties, or even your current boyfriend. Write down times, dates and places of stalking violations and the action committed, such as calling you or following you home. Copy the information periodically and give the copy to a friend to keep safe.

3. Delete everything that’s related to him.
Social networks are the easiest way to stalk on people and they can leave without a trace. Once you’ve made your decision, block him from your social media accounts like Facebook or Twitter so that he’s not able to stalk on you or see what you’re up to all the time. Make use of the privacy option on your profile and keep your details private from him.

4. Never announce your whereabouts
If the Internet is not going to help your ex get in touch with you, chances are he’s going to find another route that’s more effective. Don’t announce where you’re going on your social media platforms because the last thing you need when you’re out with your family is a an unexpected surprise!

** If these steps don’t work, be wise and make a police report!
