Home Minister of Malaysia, Zahid Hamidi has had it up to here with with news portal Malaysiakini, warning them they should be more responsible in its news reporting.
He said the news portal should uphold journalism ethics by not spinning news stories or original statement to make him controversial.
“You (Malaysiakini reporters) always twist statements, in fact too often. You create things which are not there. You better write the real stuff.
“I will monitor every word, every sentence, every paragraph, and every news item in Malaysiakini. You don’t play fire with me. You always spin.
“Please try to write according to journalism ethics, okay?” he said as he pointed his finger at a reporter from Malaysiakini who was present at a press conference in conjunction with his first day helming the ministry.
Zahid has also stood his ground for not wanting to apologize to Democratic Action Party (DAP) secretary-general Lim Guan Eng over his statement (on those wanting to accept Malaysia’s existing general election system and preferred another system to migrate to another country) which he said was misconstrued.
“It’s not for me to apologize to him,” he said.
