A secondary school student in China was looking forward to his breakfast of glutinous rice that was given out at his school. But to his surprise, he discovered quite a disgusting sight – the head of a tiny rat in his rice!
The photo of this hungry boy’s discovery went viral on micro-blogging site Weibo, with many Chinese netizens expressing horror at the gruesome discovery! According to Chinese news reports, the rat’s head was roughly the size of an adult’s last fingernail.
The principal of Rui Xiang Secondary School, Mr Weng Heng Xuan, told sources that when authorities came to conduct checks in the school on May, they found a jaw from a large-sized rat that looked like it had been baked. The batch of dried mushrooms and glutinous rice from the school has been confiscated by the food safety authorities for further investigations.
Food safety officials told sources that the rat’s head most likely came together with the dried mushrooms that came from the supplier. A bone was also found from the batch of mushrooms, but they have yet to identify which animal it came from. (Source)
