Feeling old before your time or just wanting to find ways to make sure it doesn’t happen? Here are some easy tips and tricks to ensure your skin stays youthful.

1. Ice Cubes – You can rub ice cubes over wrinkles as the cold stimulates circulation and blood flow. This is beneficial by the fact that it tightens the wrinkled skin

2. Sun Screen– Use sunscreen everyday to keep your skin looking healthy and looking young. SPF 25 or higher. Sunlight can darken natural youthful glow and make skin dry. This means overexposure can result in wrinkles and discolouration.

3. Snack on superfoods – You are what you eat so if you want good skin you will have to eat good foods! Some super foods that will leave your skin wrinkle free are:

  • Almonds: Almonds pack skin plumping fats which will prevent from skin becoming loose and sagging. They also contain vitamin E, an antioxidant which counteracts UV damage.
  • Avocados: Avocados contain amino acids and antioxidants which decrease wrinkles and age spots. They increase collagen formation which plumps the skin, leaving it with a more youthful appearance. They also, just as the almonds, supply a good source of vitamin E.
  • Dark chocolate: This may come as a surprise as we are constantly hearing how chocolate is bad for our skin, however dark chocolate with a cacao content of 70% or higher is rich in antioxidants as well.
  • Oranges: Oranges are a prime source of vitamin C and vitamin C protects collagen.

4. Cleanse and rinse your skin with oil – This seems like something you should avoid when looking to get good skin but oils are great to keep moisture locked into the skin ensuring it does not get dry or loses plumpness. A lot of natural oils contain linoleic acid which make your skin retain moisture. Olive oil is already a well known household trick but here are some others.

  • Carrot seed oil: To boost elasticity.
  • Lavender oil: To calm stress.
  • Frankincense oil: To restore skin tone.

Mix two drops of any one of the above oils with 10ml of olive oil and massage into skin, rinsing with warm followed by cold water after.

5. Regulate your sleeping patterns– Radiant skin is what we are all after and a good nights sleep always gives a glow like no other. Rejuvenation takes place while we sleep, restoring and renewing our skin because skin cells turn over more quickly when we are sleeping. A lack of sleep results in under eye bags and premature ageing so getting a solid eight hours of sleep a night will do your skin wonders.
