Danish Crown Princess to Visit Malaysia on 27 May

Just eight months after the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton set for in Kuala Lumpur, another lady of royalty will be making her way down here. The Crown Princess Mary of Denmark will make a four-day visit from May 27 to attend an international conference called “Women Deliver”.

Crown Princess Mary has been invited to join a panel discussion on women issues with former Finnish President Tarja Halonen and UN Development Programme administrator and former Prime Minister of New Zealand, Helen Clark.

According to the Denmark Foreign Affairs Ministry website, it says: “The conference aims to serve as a global platform to ensure that the health and rights of girls and women remain as the top priority on the global population and development agenda”.

Like Duchess Kate Middleton, Crown Princess Mary was also a “commoner” before their fairy-tale marriage. She married the Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark on May 14 2004 after meeting him at a Sydney hotel pub four years earlier.

The Crown Princess will also be promoting Danish-Malaysian business relations during her visit, and will also be meeting victims of gender-based violence at the Women’s Institute of Management. The statement also says that she will visit a school for Myanmar refugee children supported by the UN Refugee Agency here.
