Two more men were arrested in connection to the murder of Irene Ong Ai Sam, woman who was stabbed to death in Bukit Gasing less than two weeks ago. This brings the number of suspects to six.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Arjunaidi Mohamed said the two suspects, in their 20s, were arrested in Kuala Lumpur. The police have also seized a motorcycle from one of the suspects.
Arjunaidi refused to comment on the arrest of the two suspects or their background but expressed confidence that investigations would be wrapped up soon.
Earlier, the police arrested four youths between ages 16 – 18 at the Seri Medan and Bukit Gasing flats. Arjunaidi also said the a police mobile beat base had begun operating in Bukit Gasing on Saturday to ensure the safety of joggers and those out on walks in the area.
Irene Ong was jogging with her daughter, Hui Wei when two men on a motorcycle approached them and demanded the sling bag carried by Irene.
Irene put up a fight to protect her caught when one of the suspects stabbed her several times. She died as she was rushed along to University Malaya Medical Centre.
Hui Wei posted a very heartfelt blogpost about the incident called “My Mother, My Hero”, also said that her mother’s last words were ‘I love you’.
