LivingSocial, a daily deals website similar to GroupOn, endured a major hack that has exposed over 50 million user details including the names, emails, birth dates and encrypted passwords.
LivingSocial has stressed that customer credit card and merchants’ financial and banking information were not affected or accessed.
The hack has affected LivingSocial countries like the United States, Canada, Ireland, the U.K., Australia, South Korea and even Malaysia. However, customers in South Korea, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand were not affected.
As a result of the attack, LivingSocial urges customers to log onto LivingSocial to create a new password for their accounts. It is said an email should be sent, but if you’ve not received yours, it’s time to get on the website and make the change now.
