Looking for ways to de-clutter your home? It’s not easy trying to keep a neat and clutter-free home, but there’s always a way to come around it. The most important thing to do is think ‘simple’. It may be nice to decorate your home with awesome things, but without maintenance and upkeep, it’s practically a gateway to clutter at home.
If you’re always asking yourself “where do I begin” with de-cluttering your home, don’t worry because we’ve got six great tips to help you practice de-cluttering from everyday to every season!
1. Two-A-Day
Here’s what we mean by the two-a-day technique. It may sound really simple, but all you have to do is get rid of two things in your house each day. Sounds simply, right? But believe it or not, you may end up feeling nostalgic about some things and you’ll regret giving those things up. But discarding two things a day will do a lot even though it’s so little.
2. Make a List
Ah, lists. It may be sound like the most overrated thing to do, but a list will help you decide whether you’ll need the stuff you have. Start with something general like your room. Make a list of ten things that you feel are essential in a room and stop after it reaches ten. Those ten things should be your priority in your room and it’s best to stick to list and discard the things you don’t need.
3. Try the Four-Box Method
De-cluttering need not be a stressful task. It can be totally relaxing if you make it so. Grab four unused boxes and label them: “trash”, “giveaway”, “keep”, and “relocate”. Consider each item individually before you stash them away or give it away. This will help set you on your journey to minimalism.
4. Get Help
You don’t need a clean freak to help you de-clutter your home, but an extra set of hands will serve as an extra mind, and a extra pair of eyes. Getting a second opinion on how you can do things will give you a better flow to get things done. Plus, you can cut the time down by an hour.

5. The Closet Hanger Trick
If you have trouble trying to work around de-cluttering your closet, then this technique will be a savior. Hang all your clothes with the hangers in the reverse direction. After you wear them, return it to the closet with the hanger facing the correct direction. After a few months, you’ll realized just what you don’t need any more and you can start getting rid of the stuff you really don’t use.
6. The 36 Challenge
Grab three boxes you don’t use and start labeling them: “Trash”, “Donate” and “Storage”. Each month of every once in a while, start filling up these boxes with twelve things you don’t need. That will make 36 things that you’ve already organized in your home!
