Designers often name their collections or fashion items after famous personalities, but how often does it happen the other way around? Well, looks like Venezuelan-American designer Carolina Herrera’s love for Bobbi Brown has paid off: you can now purchase a ‘Carolina’ lipstick at Bobbi Brown stores.
The designer, whose creations have been worn by First Ladies Jackie O and Michelle Obama, was a loyal fan of Bobbi Brown’s Plum Stain lipstick, and after 20 years of using it, she wasn’t too pleased when upon hearing the news that its production was going to be stopped. “When I heard about the news that it was going to be discontinued, I sent, I don’t know how many people, all over the country to buy anything they had in any store,” the designer said. Carolina told Instyle.com, “I searched many years for a color that I could wear for all occasions, and when I found this one, my search was over. I loved it so much.”
Bobbi Brown herself also sent custom versions of this deep rosy plum lipstick to Carolina Hererra but now decided to reward her loyalty with a more permanent gesture. Bobbi has reintroduced the colour and now bears a new name, ‘Carolina’. “Bobbi and I are both in the beauty industry—we make women look and feel more beautiful. I hope [women] will love that it makes a subtle statement. The lipstick is like a white shirt—it can transition for any occasion,” said the ecstatic designer.
This goes to show that loyalty in the beauty industry does go a long way….by the way, we love you too, Bobbi Brown, could there be a ‘Lipstiq’ lipstick?
