The 10th of April seemed like an ordinary day, but to our surprise the rain washed down in the Klang Valley in full force, causing heavy traffic and sinking cars.
The late evening thunderstorm affected Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Cheras Lama, Jalan Chan Sow Lin and Jalan Segambut, but the major traffic congestion spots were Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Duta, including the Mahameru and Federal Highway.
According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department, they had forecasted scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and isolated rains on Wednesday night in Kuala Lumpur. A spokesperson from the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations room said the floods led to major traffic congestion around 5.30pm.
Motorists took to their social media platforms to spread the word about the traffic situation. We ourselves noticed that the rain only stopped around 10 to 11pm, and that it had been raining throughout the night. KL-ites were also fairly annoyed by the fact that the SMART Tunnel remained open to traffic, when it should have been closed to solve flash flood problems. The weather does look fairly cloudy again today, so be warned and come up with a backup plan, people!
