There’s one thing that all my friends notice about me: I hardly wear long pants, unless I have to be on a television show or I’m going to Cameron Highlands or other chilly places in Malaysia. Our country’s just too hot, so most of the time I’m either in dresses, skirts or shorts. However, this dressing choice comes with the tiresome responsiblity of keeping my legs silky smooth – which means regular shaving or waxing sessions.
While I was looking for other alternatives to keep my legs hairless, I stumbled upon Clariancy’s Silk’n Flash & Go device. According to the website, it’s a light-based hair removal equipment that uses Home Pulsed Light (HPL) technology for permanent hair reduction on face and body, so I decided to try it out.
Silk’n Flash & Go Hair Removal unit, wall mount adaptor, a user manual, an instructional DVD.
How to use:
Shave your legs (or any body part that you want to use the device on), clean and dry them before using Silk’n Flash & Go, and remember not to apply any powders, lotions, deodorants or similar products.
After checking that the disposable lamp cartridge is inserted properly at the tip of the device, connect the adaptor cord to the device and plug it into an electrical outlet. After the indicator light is turned on, you can start using it.
Place Silk’n Flash & Go on your skin and it will start at the lowest energy level when you pull the trigger. If there’s no discomfort, move to the next spot and increase the energy level as you move along. You can stick to the highest energy level that you’re comfortable with, and if there’s no negative reaction to it within an hour, proceed with the full treatment.
Personal experience:
The device itself is lightweight and easy to use, and the instruction manual that comes with it is pretty clear and straightforward. If you’re afraid of pain, here’s good news for you: I didn’t experience any discomfort using Silk’n Flash & Go – the only thing that you need to get used to is the flash of light when you pull the trigger. I decided to test the device on my left leg and after four sessions, there’s a visible difference in the hair growth rate between my left and right legs – hair was still growing but very, very slowly.
The recommended treatment duration for brown to black hair colour is between eight to 10 sessions, and may differ from individual to individual. The first four sessions should be done bi-weekly; fifth to seventh session should be done every four weeks, and after that, just use Silk’n Flash & Go until desired results are achieved.
This device is a more affordable option to IPL treatments at beauty centers, and using Silk’n Flash & Go didn’t interrupt much of my schedule as I could do the sessions after coming home from work while lounging in front of the TV. So far the results have been satisfactory, as well.
About Silk’n Flash & Go:
Available at Clariancy Malaysia, Silk’n Flash & Go is a beauty device that uses Home Pulsed Light to achieve permanent reduction for those who want to do it in the comforts of their own home. The device can be used on facial and body hair, including bikini line and targeted zones such as your upper lip. The only downside to it is that Silk’n Flash & Go can’t be used on naturally dark skin complexion as it can result in adverse effects such as blisters and pigmentation changes. A skin colour sensor is embedded in the device to measure the treated skin complexion, thus only permitting pulses to be emitted on suitable skin tones.
