The world’s best heist quite possibly just took place in Germany recently, when thieves made off with five tonnes of Nutella over the weekend.
It was estimated that the five tonnes of Nutella stolen is quite possibly equal to 6,875 large jars of Nutella, which is roughly 27 million calories in total.
The sticky-fingered thieves in Niederaula, Germany stole the five tonnes of Nutella from a parked flatbed trailer. And according to local news reports, the Nutella heist wasn’t the first sugary heist in the Niederaula area. Just weeks ago, theives got their hands on a large shipment of Red Bull, but it didn’t even add up to the five tonnes of Nutella.
So what’s the reason behind this epic Nutella theft? Could there be a secret black market for this delicious jar of chocolate-nutty goodness. Well truth be told, Nutella isn’t all that cheap.
In March, the New York Times found that students in Colombia University began filling containers with Nutella and taking it back to their dorms. The premise? Nutella is hitting the students pretty hard.
We can’t totally blame anyone for being addicted to Nutella. And if you could get an epic discount on a jar of Nutella, wouldn’t you get in on that?
