If there’s one thing we love the most about scientists and food nutritionists is how they come up with amazing ways for us to indulge without have to feel any guilt. Turns out, scientists have found a way for chocoholics to indulge up to five pieces of chocolates a day without running the risk of gaining weight. Yes, it’s a dream come true since they’ve found a way to cut the fat from chocolate by half!

Researchers at University of Warwick said they’ve managed to make this possible by replacing the cocoa and milk fats with fruit juice, and the new fruity confectionary retains its “chocolately” feel and taste. It’s already making our mouths water..

According to lead researcher, Dr. Stefan Bon, the secret is juice in the form of micro-bubbles that preserve a texture that is firm to bite yet melts in the mouth. “We have established the chemistry that’s the starting point for healthier chocolate confectionary.

“This approach maintains the things that make chocolate ‘chocolately’, but with fruit juice instead of fat. Now we’re hoping the food industry will take the next steps and use the technology to make tasty, lower-fat chocolate bars and other candy”.

Dr Bon also says that using fruit juice or diet cola to make chocolate also reduced overall sugar content, and this technology works with all kinds of chocolate – dark, milk and white.  And since the juice is spread out in the chocolate, it doesn’t overpower the taste of the chocolate, but it adds an interesting twist to the chocolate.

Now, were just gonna wait till our favorite chocolate companies start adopting this new way of eating chocolates. The logic – make them healthier, so we buy more.
