Not only has MyTeksi App given us Malaysian women to the opportunity to travel safely around town, the people behind this awesome app is also determined to keep Malaysians safe from harm with an easy-to-read infograph on their Facebook page. We’ve been sharing a couple of safety tips on our own, and after the incident where the American woman was raped by her driver, it’s obvious that no one is safe from harm that could potentially take place anytime.
10 SAFER WAYS TO RIDE A TAXI
1. Do not get into a rogue taxi; make sure it’s legit.
2. Make sure the driver has his/her official SPAD driver card clearly displayed and their faces match
3. Sit in the back seat and opposite side to the driver.
4. If intoxicated, ride with a friend
5. Keep windows up and valuables out of sight to avoid a “smash-and-grab” by motorcyclists.
6. Text or call your loved ones to tell them the taxi driver’s details.
7. If someone else other than the driver is in the taxi, don’t get in.
8. Similarly, if during the journey the driver stops to pick-up another passenger, exit the taxi immediately.
9. Do not agree to share a ride with a stranger, even if he/she offers kindly.
10. If the taxi driver says he wants to make a detour or stop to re-fuel petrol, stop the taxi and get out.
This infograph is aboslutely brilliant to have, and we highly recommend keeping it in your phone so you can share it with others, or even as a reminder when you’re traveling.
Remember to stay safe, ladies!
