It it no secret that most women prefer men with all the masculine features especially those who has strong face features. But what happened after women used birth control pills? Well, nothing much changed except their preferences on men!

According to our source, a new study which was published in the journal Psychoneuroendocrinology has shown that women found less masculine male faces much more attractive after using the contraceptive pills. However, the rating of the attractiveness of female faces remain unchanged.

Researchers conducted the study on straight women ages 18 to 24 by showing them women composite images of young male with female face features including cheekbone prominence, jaw height and face width. The participants were told to alter the male faces so they were most attractive for either a short- or long-term relationship.

The results shown the women who used the pill three months ago preferred less masculine male faces with more narrow jawbones and more rounded faces. While many factors can affect human attractiveness,  some research suggests that a preference for less-masculine faces may be linked to genetic benefits for a couple’s offspring as well.

However, ecologist and evolutionary biologist Claus Wedekind said the study faces elimination as it is not a double-blind experiment as participants may be biased toward men as they might already know the pill’s effect on them.
