Ever heard of the saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”. Well we’ve compiled a list of things you can actually use lemon for in terms of beauty care that you would have never thought of. Lemon is no longer just something you add to your food or drinks, but it’s also an essential in your daily grooming and hygiene.
1. Remove Scars
You can use lemon juice on areas that have scars as the AHA in it will lighten scars as well as removes your dead skin cells and help grow new ones. Just use a cotton ball and dab it onto your scars, leave it on for 15-20 minutes and wash it off before you go to sleep. However this must be done over a period of time before you can see a difference.
2. Bright and Soft Skin
Squeeze lemon juice into a bowl and use a wash cloth to wipe your body. Lemon juice is known for being a natural ‘bleach’ and it also makes your skin soft and feeling fresh.
3. Whiten Dark Underarms
Rub some lemon juice onto your underarm, and let it dry for about half an hour or so. Wash it off with mild soap. Another alternative to get faster results is to store lemon juice in a bottle (we recommend doing this weekly!) and spray it on your underarms a few times a day. This allows you to get faster and more effective results, and the scent of lemon also acts as deodorant. Then, rinse off with mild soap. You could put lemon juice into a spray bottle and spray the juice on your underarms several times a day.
4. Bye-bye Blackheads
Rub lemon juice on areas with blackheads consistently every night and rinse with cold water. Lemon has antibacterial properties that help remove germs from your skin.
5. Natural Lip Scrub
Take a lemon rind (still with some access juice on it, and put some sugar on it. Gently rub it against your lips in circular motions for about 5 minutes and then wash with cold water. This is good for peeling lips as the citrus from the lemon will disinfect, exfoliate and repair the skin. It also helps to restore your natural lip colour.
6. No More Dandruff
Rubbing a few drops of the juice on your scalp and rinse it off with water can help in getting rid of dandruff. No more itching scalp, flaky dandruff and your hair will smell amazing!
Certain people have skin that’s sensitive to the citric acid in lemon, so you can try reducing the amount of lemon juice used or you can just dilute it in water. Also, it is more advisable to use these home remedies during the night as you may get a skin reaction when there is sun involved.
