We all have a bucket list of all the places we aim to visit, and it’s quite possible that a lot of us would love to visit. Google Maps is constantly on the move to give people the chance to see things one could never expect, and this time, they’ve aimed ‘high’ to give the chance to see the breathtaking sights from four of the Seven Summits, from the comfort of your own home!
Explore some of the most famous mountains on Earth, including Aconcagua (South America), Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mount Elberus (Europe) and the Everest Base Camp (Asia) on Google Map. These mountains belong to the group of peaks know as the Seven Summits – the highest mountains on each of the seven continents. Let Google Maps instantly transport you to the top of these peaks and enjoy the sights without having to trail the dangers of the avalanches, rock slides, crevasses, and dangers from altitude and weather that mountaineers risk.
The imagery was collected using a simple lightweight tripod and digital camera with fisheye lens – equipment typically used on Google’s Business Photos program.
Start your journey on Mount Killimanjaro on Tanzania, and see amazing views of the highest freestanding mountain in the world covered in snow, just three degrees south of the equator. Then, explore Argentina’s Aconcagua, the highest peak in both the Western and Southern Hemispheres. See how a base camp is set up amonst the exposed rock in Plaza Argentina and how expeditions eat, camp and prepare for the ascent. Finally, make your way to Everest Base Camp, where expeditions stage their attempts to reach the top of the world. Along the ascent, steal glimpses of the snow-capped Himalayan mountain peaks and the awesome Khumbu glacier.
Begin your journey and be on top of the world here.
