Lajin Bundik and his family went through 2 days of terror when 9 Sulu terrorists held them captive in their own home in Tanjung Batu.
Lajin said they were walking from Kampung Tanduo when they came into his house, carrying firearms while the rest were armed with machetes.
“They looked like they were geared up for a battle. I want to run but was too scared,” said Lajin who was with his sick wife and their four grandchildren. He said one of the terrorists approached him and told him not to worry as they only wanted food. They requested that they close all windows and doors and to remain indoors. “They made themselves comfortable in my house. They took their shower and slept in the living room”.
Lajin and his family escaped on the second day after he heard the sound of gunfire and explosions at the village. The Sulu gunmen did not stop them, and they ran into the plantation to seek help.
It appears that Lajin and his family weren’t the only one to be held captive by the Sulu terrorists. Another villager, Hamdan Arsad, 52, said that the terrorists also spent a night at his house, asking for food and shelter. He also mentioned that there were two women in the group. Hamdan asked the intruders if her could leave, and they did but warned him not to go into the plantations.
