March is a month full of fun and exciting events and Lipstiq team is also having a special lifestyle event for the readers too! But for now, we are really psyched over the Future Music Festival Asia (FMFA) tonight and the Twin Towers @live 2013 in Malaysia which is happening on next week is another event we can’t wait to join as well! With Backstreet Boys, Demi Lovato, U-Kiss and 2NE1 headlining the show, there are certainly no reasons for us not to be there. As we are now only a week away from the event, we did our part in recognizing the stars and we must say we are currently having a big style crush on the Korean girl group, 2NE1.
The 4-members girl group is one of the hottest female girl groups in Korea who is best known for their catchy futuristic pop songs as well as their stylish yet outrageous outfits. The girls debuted under one of the 3 major entertainment labels in Korea, YG Entertainment. The label is known for producing hip hop music and international superstars such as Big Bang, SE7EN, Epik High, PSY, Lee Hi and so on.
In the style-driven clothing industry, the image and style is certainly the most important aspect for any idol groups. 2NE1 is one of the first idol groups who has taken the K-pop world by storm with their first debut “Fire”. When the girls first debut in 2009, they were dubbed as the female version of ‘Big Bang’ as their styles are similar. Besides that, as compared to other girl groups, 2NE1 sure looks different and unique from the rest as they’ve ditched the cutest K-pop style for the edgy cool concept. Throughout the years, 2NE1 has play up with their style with different kind of trend but the tough rebel vibe is still visible even when they’re in the most feminine outfits.
The girls were often seen in luxurious designer brands including Balmain, KTZ, Jeremy Scott, Givenchy, Chrome hearts, Gareth Pugh, Christian Louboutin and the list goes on. Although some of the clothes were borrowed or sponsored by the stylists and certain fashion brands, but the girls themselves sure knows how to dress up themselves off stage as well. 2NE1 has a close relationship with several well-known designers as well and they were often seen hanging out with Jeremy Scott. This explains why the girls were always seen in Adidas or Jeremy Scott’s brands.
Needless to say, style spotters have also highly praised the girls for their exquisite fashion sense and were included in the list of the most stylish girl groups. 2NE1 was featured in several fashion spreads as well such as Vogue Korea, CeCi Korea, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire and so on. But despite being in the same girl group, the members of the girl group were seen rocking different kind of styles that each exudes their personalities and charm.
The leader of 2NE1, CL (real name: Lee Chaerin) is the rapper and the singer in the group. The leader is perhaps the most style-conscious member among the other. Hence, it didn’t came as a surprise when she is included in our list of the most stylish female K-pop stars as her signature style is always bold and vibrant. The ‘maknae’ or youngest member of the group, Minzy was encouraged to show off her individual style and she did particular well in it. She is best known for her eccentric dancing abilities as well as steady and husky vocals. At only age 19, her style alternates between hip-hop and edgy cool that makes her look much more mature than she really is.
Sandara Park was the member who endorsed the most cosmetic brands due to her flawless ‘porcelain’ skin. As compared to the rest of the members, Dara is known for being sweet and youthful while she is actually the oldest member of the group, along with Park Bom. As for Park Bom, she was known for her powerhouse vocal as well as her beautiful long legs. On stage, her signature style is her mini dress and the sky-high heels that flaunts her sexy long legs. Her style on-and-off stage is pretty much the same as she can be sexy and cute at the same time.
Overall, 2NE1 are like chameleons who can adapt into different kind of styles and it is indeed an eye-opening experience browsing through their styles.
