On 16th of January, William Yau Zhen Zhong was reported missing after his parents left him in the car with his siblings in Putra Heights. At the inquest, William’s father, Yau Kok Kang testified that he and his wife left their three children, Eric, 7, Cindy, 1 and 6-year-old William locked in the car, and had gone into an electrical shop in Putra Heights that evening.  However, upon returning to the car 10 minutes later, his wife, Goh Yin Ying, screamed and said “one child had not got into the car”.

The statement prompted deputy public prosecutor Lee Keng Fatt, who is assisting in the inquest to ask if William had gone to Onking, to which Yau said he did not. Yau then said that his wife took their daughter, Cindy into the electrical shop to look for William.

When she returned to the car, Yau asked Eric where William had gone.

“Eric then said that William went to look for his mother,” said Yau.  Yau added that he then locked Eric in the car and went looking for William for about 15 minutes at the nearby burger and satay stalls.

On the day a body of a young boy was found, Yau and his wife had gone to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang  to identify the body. “At first sight, my wife and I identified the body as William’s”.

Assistant Superintendent, Nor Hafiza Mat Nor explained that the possibility was through an uncovered drain near Onking that connected all the way to the jetty. However a post-mortem could not determine the cause of death as William’s body had decomposed.
