Family of the victim of the fatal hit-and-run in Manjung, Perak are unhappy with Lumut UMNO Youth’s explanation over the incident.
Mohd Shahril Yahaya, Lumut UMNO division chief denied that the driver and its occupants fled the scene instead of helping the victim. He claimed that the driver left the scene of the accident as he was scared at the sign of tattooed men who were supposedly nearby.
“Actually, there were no tattooed men there whatsoever. And in the truck were two people, besides the driver”, said Tan Yu Sing, one of the victim’s sons. He said that after the accident, two came out to remove the BN logos and Zambry’s photograph. The driver then fled, leaving the two men at the accident.
At a press conference held at Sitiawan with Perak DAP chief, Ngeh Koo Ham present, Ngeh stressed that Lumut UMNO division chief and Perak MB, Zambry Abdul Kadir should take responsibility and apologize for the family.
“As UMNO leaders, you really should not let this pass. The one who has caused the accident out to be punished,” continued Tan.
