The STYLO’s showcase in the major cities including London, Delhi, Jakarta, Singapore and Mexico City was a success last year. And now, the country’s biggest fashion event returns to the city of KL with a dreamy theme “The Mannequin Fantasies” from the 17th to the 23rd of March 2013!
Unlike last year, the locations of the individual events remain a mystery till the day itself but the official event will be at the Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral which will open on March 22nd.
A signing ceremony with the major sponsors for the 15th Petronas Malaysia F1 Grand Prix 2013 was held at the Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral last Friday. The President & CEO of STYLO International, Datuk Nancy Yeoh was present at the signing ceremony as well.
“Our Malaysian fashion scene has been really fortunate to have had Mercedes-Benz’s support in pushing us into fashion’s international forefront,” she said. She further added that they are hopeful with the possibility of global fashion expansion in our partnership with them and in their continued commitment to fashion on a worldwide level.
The 7-day festival will also present its first-ever public showcase at the Petronas Twin Towers. She said aerialist, stilt walkers, fire-eater, unicyclist, hoop dancer and electro grinders will be merged with Asian performing artistes and will be directed by famed choregrapher Pat Ibrahim with fashion direction by Georgetown Arts Festival chief, Joe Sidek.
That Mercedes-Benz Malaysia and STYLO will be co-presenting its B2B debut, The Asia Fashion Week (AFW) and The Rainforest Fashion Initiative (RFI) later this year.
The inaugural event will be held in Kuala Lumpur and in the Sarawakian rainforests which will see fashion participation from over 15 Asian countries including heavyweights such as China, India, Japan and South Korea.
Kronenbourg 1664 as the Official Beverage of STYLO 2013 will be presenting a tongue-in-cheek fashion showcase entitled ‘Not Les Miserables’ under its banner of L’Aperitif Fashion. As the Official Card of Mercedes-Benz STYLO FGP 2013, Visa will be presenting STYLO’s Men’s Fashion Showcase entitled “Men Have No Secrets”.
One of the major sponsors for the fashion event was President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, Roland Folger. According to Folger, the company celebrates the 10th anniversary of the incorporation this year and they have been committed to the haute couture’s promotion since the incorporation. He also said it helped to elevate the Malaysian fashion industry internationally.
While female segment plays a significant role in Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s success, the arrival of A class will fits perfectly with the edgy fashion statement. Folger said Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has been in partnership with STYLO for 6 years and will continue to do so for a bigger and better fashion festival.
The highly successful Mercedes-Benz STYLO Emerging Designers’ Competition will make its return with 12 finalists at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Prague this September.
