As the weekend approaches, there’s absolutely no reason to miss out on all the fun the weekends bring. But for some of us, there’s no better way to spend our weekend by just snuggle up in our bed and watch some old movies we haven’t watched in a while. 1. The Blind Side
The mother’s love is the greatest, and this movie has proven its case. The Blind Side is a movie based on the true story of Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy who take in a homeless and traumatized teenage African-American, Michael “Big Mike” Oher. Anne’s effort in making sure the young man has every opportunity to succeed proved to us that anyone can be successful as long as they don’t give up in fighting what they want.
2. 50/50
We have mixed emotion with this movie because we would laugh out loud in just a moment and then the next moment we just cry like a baby. This movie is loosely based on the screenwriter’s life as he also went through the similar situation when he got cancer in his 20s. It simply makes us appreciate our life even more and gives us stronger will to live our life.
3. Hachiko A Dog Story
We always have a soft spot for cute animals and this movie is officially one of our favourite movies of all time. No matter how much we tried holding back the tears, we still end up crying hysterically. As the title suggests, the movie is based on the story of an Akita dog, Hachiko in Japan where Hachiko would wait for the owner’s arrival at a train station, even many years after the owner died. Hachiko’s incredible loyalty to his owner melts our hearts and it is definitely worth-saluting.
4. 127 Hours
While this movie may give us a few heart-stopping moments, 127 Hours left an unforgettable impression to us on so many different levels. The movie which is also based on real-life story shows us the incredible survival tips and the climber’s strong survival wills to stay alive. The movie also gives us a glimpse what people usually think about when they are on the verge on dying. It made us pondered a lot as well as the movie unveiled the climber’s courage as he reminisces about his life before the accident.
5. The Pursuit of Happyness
Based on the story of a salesman Chris Gardner, the movie shows the salesman is going through a lot of struggle and became homeless along with his son after his wife left him. Eventually, the salesman overcame all the difficulties and has become a successful stockbroker. It inspires us in a way that we can overcome anything and we must deal with unexpected challenges with passion and optimistic mindset.
6. Facing The Giant
The movie is unbelievably inspiring as it highlights the coach who motivates the team through one player and beat the odds with great strength and courage. We all need a little extra push in our life if we ever wanted to be successful. Although the movie is about sports and Christianity, but the constant motivation from the coach in the movie gives us more courage to go beyond the limits in achieving our goal.
7. The Fighter
Despite being a boxing film, we love this movie nonetheless as the movie speaks of fighting for the people you love. Based on true story of the two brothers Micky Ward & Dicky Eklund, The Fighter is inspirational movie about Micky’s road to the world light welterweight title with the help of his half-brother-turned-trainer, Dicky. The movie is highly engrossing and emotionally powerful and as the title suggested, this movie inspires us to never give up in fighting for something we want.
8. Dead Poets Society
Poetry is not dead yet especially when a lot of people found the movie “Dead Poet Society” to be exceptionally inspiring. Based on the student’s at “Welton Academy”, the movie is about an English teacher John Keating who inspires his students to a love of poetry and to seize the day. It is an eye-opening movie that makes us look at things from different perspectives and it taught us the way to live through beautiful poetry. It almost feels like you can get lost in the world of poetry but in the end, you can find your true identity within yourself.
9. Forest Gump
“Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” The well-known inspirational quote actually came from this movie and it is pretty much a way of life for everyone. The movie gives a lot of life lessons and it has definitely inspires people to become a better person. Even when bad things happen, we are just going to stand up and move on. The movie shows us that it is important to live our dream and we have to keep walking until we achieve our goal.
10. My Sister’s Keeper
Don’t doubt it, this film is one of those films that can make you cry no matter how many times you have watched it. The film is based on Jodi Picoult’s novel and the movie tells a story of Anna Fitzgerald who fights for the rights of her body as her parents wanted her to help her leukimia-stricken sister’s live by donating her bone marrow. The movie shows a lot about the families who struggled and sacrificed to save the cancer-battling family members. It raises a lot of moral and ethical questions on the right of human’s live and examines s what it means to be the good persons.
