Watch out people! It looks like the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park are making their way to Malaysian shores as Malacca plans to build a RM200 million dinosaur theme park at 1Malaysia Square!
While water-based Jurassic Park themed amusement rides are available in Universals Studio all over the world, but according to our source, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the dinosaur theme park will be the first tour of its kind in Asia.
So, in other words, the theme park is set to gives a surreal experience and combined education, thrills and state-of-the-art technology as 200 artificial dinosaur models operated by electronic and hydraulic systems will be exhibited at the site.
Much similar to the Sea World in Orlando, the largest whale aquarium is set to build in Malacca as Mohd Ali said a 60.7 ha site has been marked for construction of the Melaka Sea World, located next to the Jurrasic Park. The RM300mil underwater aquarium would display marine life and fresh water species including dolphins, sharks and other deep sea creatures from all over the world.
“The Jurassic Park itself can be a catalyst for the local tourism industry and I hope my officers in charge of the project will expedite the technical and planning tasks to enable the park to be unveiled according to schedule,” said Mohd Ali after the briefing by Edenzil Sdn Bhd executive chairman Tan Sri Abd Rahim Mohamad at Seri Negeri yesterday.
Mohd Ali is excited about the proposed project and has ordered the relevant state authorities to work on the project as soon as possible. The park was expected to draw over one million tourists a year and Mohd Ali wants the tourists attraction for the state to be unveiled by the end of 2015.
“Plans are also in the pipeline to construct an open-air dining site where meals will be priced at an unbelievable price of RM1 for food and drinks,” he said. Mohd Ali said the site would be jointly developed by state-owned Yayasan Melaka and Edenzil. The access roads to the site from Limbongan and the heart of the city would be upgraded in stages as well.
As ambitious as it sounds, we are pretty excited over these tourism projects. Imagine having our own Jurrasic Park!
