Something that you must learn in advertising firms is that creativity and originality are the most important elements to advertise a product because there’s no second chance at making good first impression. So, there are always a lot of advertising companies who are trying to outdo the other companies to attract the potential crowd.
It seems like Japan has successfully doing so as the advertising companies are now renting young Japanese women’s bare legs to advertise the products.
The marketing company “Absolute Territory PR” that came up with this brilliant marketing strategy is because Zettai Ryouiki (also known as Absolute Territory) is where everyone’s eyes are drawn to as it is the area of bare skin that is seen between the skirt and the knee sock. By putting an ad on that special area for 8 hours a day, the women who rented out their bare legs can get paid in return.
Participating women have to make sure the business is getting the right amount of exposure with the legs stamped with an ad and go on with their usual life. They have to post pictures of themselves ‘wearing’ the ad on social networking sites as well as a proof of their work.
The business was proven to be a huge hit all across Tokyo as more than 1300 girls have already registered their legs as ad space by November 2012. In fact, it’s just not companies who employed the service as several acts including the punk rock band Green Day rented an ad space as well to promote the Japan release of their new CD, !Uno!
According to a spokesperson at the company Eichi Atsumi, the registered women must be aged 18 or over and connected to at least more than 20 people on some social network to get the job.
Since that’s an area where everyone’s eye are drawn to, we guess this marketing strategy works on most men then?
