It’s all about service and convenience with travelling these days, especially when it comes to increasing the use of public transportation.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong have recently announced a high-speed train service project between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore during the 4th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders Retreat earlier.
According to our source, the project is expected to be completed by 2020. Najib said the project is a “huge game changer” as the time of travelling between the two cities is expected to be 90 minutes.
Lee said that it’s a strategic project for both countries. “It will change the way we see each other. It’s the way people in London and Paris are able to think of it, really as twin cities where you can commute, go up there, do business, meet friends, have a meal and come back all within maybe two- thirds of the day,” he said.
The cost of the project was not revealed yet but Najib said this project will be a public-private partnership with “very strong government participation” and Malaysia will provide infrastructure support. The two leaders have tasked a joint ministerial committee to look into the details of the rail link, the statement said.
