Just last Thursday (7th February) a woman was stabbed in the thigh and the abdomen while walking back to the car park at the Bandar Tun Razak LRT.
A woman by the name of Chin Suet Fong drove herself to the hospital after getting stabbed by two men who were attempting to snatch her bag. Chin, who is a secretary at a law firm in Mid Valley City took the train at the Bandar Tun Razak LRT station at 8.30pm and was headed towards her car that was parked in the compound of the station when this all happened.
The 39-year-old victim spent three days in the intensive care unit (ICU) at a private hospital in Cheras after undergoing an emergency operation and has now been transferred to a normal ward on Sunday, where she is now recuperating.
In a comment made to NST, Chin told her side of the story saying, “As I was walking, I saw two men crouched in between the cars parked there. I thought they were trying to break into a car, so I walked faster.” She then said that the two suspects were wearing full-faced helmets and tried to grab her bag. “I screamed and I pulled back the bag. One of them told me he would stab me if I did not give him the bag.”
Chin hung on to her bag, and that is when one of the suspects stabbed her twice with a knife in the thigh and the abdomen. “When I fell, the two suspects fled empty-handed,” she said.
Despite her injuries, Chin got herself into her car and drove to a clinic in Taman Midah which was about 2.5 KM from the LRT station. “I only noticed that I was covered in blood when I tried to fasten my safety belt. Even then, I thought it was because of the fall. But as I was driving, I felt nauseous and broke out in cold sweat.” she told the reporters.
Part of the blame goes to the lack of security at the LRT stations and Chin added that it was dark as the lights in the parking lot have been faulty for the past few days. “There were no closed-circuit television cameras and no one around at that time.”
City Criminal Investigation Department deputy chief Assistant Commissioner Khairi Ahrasa is asking those who probably witnessed this incident to come forward and help assist in the investigations.
