Wise men tell us that travelling is the best way to discover yourself, and while we agree, we also feel that hitting some destinations will help you discover the love you have with your partner, and hopefully help you both fall in love all over again. So whether it’s just a short vacation for just the two of you, or a honeymoon, here are some beautiful cities that will make your heart melt.
Paris, France
No one could ever forget the City of Lights as the City of Love. Each year, visitors flock from all over the world to the Eiffel Tower to share a special kiss with their loved ones, and some are lucky enough to have their man stoop down on one knee, and propose right in front of the Eiffel. Ah, Paris!
Verona, Italy
This little town was made famous as the setting for Shakespeare’s most tragic love story, Romeo and Juliet. One of the highlights of Verona is Casa di Giulietta, or Juliet’s House, which is supposedly the location of the famous balcony scene, although the house really has no connection with the fictional characters, but as it was inspired by the tale, young lovers are often seen photographing themselves, re-enacting the scenery.
Perhentian Islands, Malaysia
The Perhentinan Islands is one of Malaysia’s most beautiful coral-fringed beaches, just off the coast of Terengganu. While there aren’t that many attractions in the city, the main attraction is the beach itself, with a variety of activities you can enjoy with your partner like snorkeling, scuba diving, or even just lazing by the beach, under the sun together.
Bali, Indonesia
There’s a reason why Bali is one of the top destination where tourists get married, or even find love (..ahem, Eat Pray Love). Bali’s certainly got its charm – the exotic beaches, the rain forests, volcanoes, and paddy fields. Bali is certainly the place for adventure-seeking lovers!
Phuket, Thailand
Phuket has everything to offer to lovebirds – culture, heritage, the beach, shopping, adventure, and it even boasts affordable boutique hotels, to affordable luxury resorts ideal for the budget-conscious honeymooners. Let’s not forget that the food is ridiculously affordable and delicious.
Venice, Italy
If you’re heading to Europe, you would be crazy to give Venice a miss. This township lagoon still looks just about the same as it did 600 years ago, and it still has its charm and romanticism. Ride a gondola throughout the little canals, and don’t miss the Bridge of Sighs, which according to local Italian superstition, if you kiss your lover on a gondola at sunset under the bridge, you’ll both share eternal love.
Santorini, Greece
If you want history, simplicity, romance and a hint of adventure, the Greek isle of Santorini is the place to go. This volcanic island boasts breath-taking views, and sublime architecture of charming villages on the hills. It’s also an excuse to bring out your inner Greek goddess, so step out in some comfortable sandals, a comfy maxi and stroll around the village, and catch the sunset with your man’s arms around you.
Rome, Italy
It’s hard to imagine why Italy isn’t the best spot for lovers, but Rome is completely something else. This exclusive city filled with history, the Eternal City speaks to history buffs and lovers alike. Make a wish at the Trevi fountain, visit the iconic Colosseum, step into some beautiful piazza’s rich in architecture, and don’t forget to taste the delicious food, too.
